DURHAM — David L. Cochran died quietly on Jan. 7, 2012, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, at the age of 59. David was a lifetime resident of the Seacoast area, residing most of that time in Durham. He graduated from Oyster River High School in 1970 where he participated in the Drama Department. He excelled at skiing, participated on the Oyster River Ski Team, and was named New Hampshire skimeister. He attended the University of Colorado in Denver as a theater major. In the early 1970s, David became assistant director of the Hackmatack Theater. David, along with his father and mother and many others from the theater community, participated in converting the barn from the Guptill family farmstead in Berwick, Maine, to a 183-seat theater designed to provide summer educational theater experiences. Later on in life, David continued to pursue his interests in the arts. He was an avid cribbage player, pool player and gardener. David is predeceased by his parents, Ann and Dick Cochran of Durham. He is survived by his brother, Richard (Andy) Cochran, and Andy's wife, Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, please support the Arts in your local community. |
