Jean Dieckelman Closson

ELKIN - Jean Marie Closson , age 67, of Elkin, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Pruitt Health Care.

Jean was born on December 21, 1956 in Albany County, New York to the late James Dieckelman and Mary Cody Dieckelman.

A woman of many talents, her creativity and industrious nature shaded the memories of those who love her with vibrant, brilliant color. Jean brought to life any project she set her sights on. Needlepoint, furniture refinishing, cooking, decorating, the list of skills and crafts she mastered is endless, and always amazed those around her. She could do anything! Her love of a wide array of hobbies always paled in comparison to her love of people. Deeply genuine, authentic, compassionate, and loyal, she was the person who always chose to step in when you needed her. This truth is most evident when considering the sea of friends and loved ones she leaves behind who are better for having benefited from the warmth of her care, her countless kind words and thoughtful gestures, and the smile she had to share with any soul blessed enough to cross her path. The light of her spirit will be deeply and irreparably missed, but her immense legacy will continue forward in the hearts of those who loved her.

Her most significant, unwavering love she reserved for her three children. A devoted mother, she spent much of her life pouring herself into any and every effort to benefit her children. Selfless, supportive, their biggest fan and greatest encourager, her limitless care for her family was a stronghold that helped them weather even the most trying of tempests. Her joy and pride grew over the years as cherished spouses and grandchildren were added to her brood. Her greatest delight was in spending time with her family and seeing the laughter and smiles of her grandsons and granddaughter.

To know her was to love her, and to be loved by her was the most significant and long lasting blessing for those remaining here on Earth.

Those left to cherish her memory are a son James St.Cyr (Claire) of State Road; two daughters Chelsea VonCanon (Josh) of Cedar Point and Emily Fee (Michael) of Elkin; one brother John Dieckelman of Portsmouth, NH and one sister Ellen Dieckelman of Exeter, NH; 5 grandchildren James, Ryan, Josephine, Christopher, and Raymond.

Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
