EAST ANDOVER - Mary Ann Nagy, 67, born August 24, 1955, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at home with her husband by her side in East Andover after a devastating battle with early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Mary Ann was the daughter of Harold and Mildred (Edgerly) Moran and grew up in Durham, NH.
After graduating from Oyster River High School in 1973, Mary Ann continued her education in nursing at the Lynn Hospital School of Nursing. She began her career at Frisbee Hospital in Rochester. Mary Ann later moved to Chapel Hill, NC where she worked for the UNC Medical Center. In the 1980's, she returned to Durham to care for her ailing father. During this time, she worked at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport, MA where she was instrumental in developing an orthopedic specialty unit. In the 1990's she pursued a new career in long-term care, working for Mariner Healthcare and then for Sunbridge Nursing Home in Rochester as the Director of Nursing until 1998.
In the spring of 1998, Mary Ann met her husband, Paul Nagy, through mutual friends. They were engaged on Paul's birthday in July and married on November 28, 1998. Mary Ann welcomed Paul's children into her life with open arms. After settling into her new home in East Andover, Mary Ann worked for Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Concord; Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth and then retired from New London Hospital in New London as the office/triage nurse.
At any time, Mary Ann could be found baking luscious treats, hanging out in the sun on their patio or stacking wood, which she thoroughly enjoyed! She and her husband loved listening to oldies music and took many trips to the Jersey shore together. Paul and Mary Ann enjoyed a happy and loving life together for almost 24 years.
