Charles J. Randall

Charles (Charlie) J. Randall, 67, of 54 High St, Greenfield MA, died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, (4/15/14) Born in Exeter, NH on Dec. 26, 1946, he was the son of John and Pearline (Payne) Randall. He attended schools in Lee and Durham, NH.

Charlie enlisted in the US Navy in 1963, just six days after his 17th birthday. He was stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Wasp and was proud to be on the ship that served as the prime recovery ship for several of the Gemini manned space shots.

On October 17th 1965, he married the former Lettice “TC” Davis in Lee NH. They would have celebrated their 49th anniversary this year.

After his military service, he and Lettice settled in Shelburne Falls, MA where they raised their family. During this time, Charlie was employed by the Shelburne Falls Water Dept. for 8 years, then briefly by the Kendall Mills Co in Colrain MA, and Yankee Atomic in Rowe MA before starting his own carpentry business. He spent many years remodeling and “flipping” houses which he and Lettice and their young family would live in while the work was being done. Eventually he built new houses, 2 of which he and Lettice lived in.

He and Lettice also spent 11 years caring for a handicapped man, David, who they grew to love and who was just like a family member. David passed away this past January and Charlie, who considered David his “best buddy”, was devastated but knew David was in a better place.

Charlie and Lettice also spent about 3 years in Pikeville Tennessee where they moved to start an RV park with Charlie’s brother, Bruce, and his wife, Joyce. On their return from Tennessee, they settled in Greenfield.

Everyone who knew Charlie admired him for his sense of humor, his care for all he met, and his love for his wife and family, and his love of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Charlie leaves behind his wife, Lettice, and his 3 children.
