William F. Robinson

DOVER — William F. Robinson, 70, of Glenwood Avenue, formerly of Durham and Barrington, died May 21, 2010, at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.

Born January 4, 1940, in Exeter, he was the son of William F. & Alice (Hazlett) Robinson, and lived most of his life in Durham. On August 20, 1961, he married Nancy Ann Harrison in Groveland, Massachusetts.

He worked for Robinson Rudd Oil of Durham, Public Service (Newmarket office), owned and operated Robinson Electric, and was manager of Houghton's Hardware in Newmarket.

He served in the National Guard; volunteered as Baseball Commissioner of the Oyster River Youth Association, Captain of the Durham Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of the Durham Town Council. Within the Masonic Order, he was Master of Rising Star Lodge #47 F&a.m. in Newmarket; head of many of the bodies in York and Scottish Rite, becoming a 32nd degree mason; and also awarded Legion of Honor of DeMolay. He spent several years as Patron for John Williams Chapter of Easter Star in Dover, and most recently as a member of Crescent Chapter of Northwood.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Nancy Ann (Harrison); son George and his wife Jackie, grandchildren Lauren, Cliff and Jordan; granddaughter Renee Boucher; son Mark and granddaughter Ciera; sister, Susan White and her husband Bob; two special nieces, Julie Herod and Christine Smith; and several cousins.

He enjoyed helping anyone who crossed his path, and will be lovingly missed by all his family and friends. He loved his camp at Moosehead Lake, Maine, and enjoyed camping with his wife and the Good Sam Roadrunners, of which he was president for many years.

Burial will take place in Durham Cemetery.
