Alan Urban

DURHAM - Lt. Alan Charles Urban, 25, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, died Thursday, December 8, 1988 in the crash of an Army Chinook helicopter near the town of La Celba, Honduras.

Born January 12, 1963 in Ames, Iowa, the son of Willard and Sara Urban of Durham, New Hampshire, he had attended the Oyster River Schools, the University of New Hampshire, and graduated from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1986 with a degree in animal science and a commission in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant. He received his helicopter wings in Ft. Rucker, Alabama and was permanently stationed at Ft. Bragg in North Carolina.

Family members include two sisters, Ruth Ellen Urban of Madison, Wisconsin and Joan Denise Urban of Durham; and grandparents Willard and Mary Urban of Arlington, Virginia.

The family has requested no flowers and suggests those wishing to make a memorial contribution direct it to the Honduras Assistance Fund of the Durham Community Church, Main Street, Durham, NH 03824
