DUNBARTON - Paul Cathcart passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, at the age of 84. Born on August 2, 1940, in Middleton, NH, he was the son of the late Roland and Pauline (Laney) Cathcart.
Paul lived in Dunbarton, NH, for most of his life with his beloved partner of 27 years, Cheryl Hey. He cherished the Hey family as his own, forming a special bond with Cheryl’s son Timothy, his wife Elizabeth, and their children Warner and Oliver. Paul found great joy in teaching Warner how to fish, sharing his love for the outdoors, and spent countless hours playing with Oliver, whose energy and laughter always brightened his days.
In addition to Cheryl, Paul is survived by Timothy, Elizabeth, Warner, and Oliver; his son Jeffery Cathcart, his wife Keri, and their children Chelsea and McKenzie; and his sisters Margaret Whitney, Charon and her husband Randy Dumont. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his brother, Hubert R. Cathcart, and Janis Cathcart.
A graduate of Oyster River High School in 1958, Paul proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962, including two years stationed in Morocco. After his service, he dedicated over 40 years to the U.S. Postal Service, retiring as the Postmaster of Concord, NH, in 1996.
Paul was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and golf. He leaves behind many dear friends from Dustin’s Country Club.
